Breaking News List is one of my Twitter Lists<\/a>, whose initial intent was to string together the handles of news outlets specifically marked “breaking news” from all over the globe. That worked for a while. At times, I would add in, usually temporarily, the accounts of the closest news outlets reporting on sudden local events and situations, especially Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria — with as many accounts reporting on Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and the Caribbean being added as I could find, since their recovery from the devastation wrought by Hurricane Maria has brought little more than a shrug of paper towels from the current U.S. President, a despicable ongoing situation that thankfully others have stepped forward to manage since we have a federal agency tasked more with forms than food for survivors. But that is literally a whole other post on a different blog, Helping Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands<\/a>.<\/p>\n Media TODAY is another one of my Twitter Lists<\/a> — which is rather complicated, because there are so many different ways that video and audio can be used on the internet — whose intent was to string together accounts that regularly tweet out audio and\/or video clips, including: those that have captured a specific event, is a “viral” popular video; or promote podcasts; or are promoting a scheduled live event that is streamed live online and then is archived and available to watch later like @SchomburgCenter<\/a> or @BookTV on C-SPAN2<\/a> or @Letters Live<\/a> or @The Aspen Institute<\/a>; or are from one of the new online-only streaming video networks, whether news like @NowThis<\/a> or entertainment like @PeopleTV<\/a> or business like @Cheddar<\/a> or classical music events like @medici.tv<\/a> or video games, including watching individual gamers or groups of gamers play through various titles, like @Twitch<\/a>; or are available archived audio of news events and interviews like @PacificaRadioArchive<\/a> or @American Archive<\/a> or @Pop Up Archive<\/a>.
